Cracker Barrel’s co-founder has been critical of the company’s CEO over his proposed new logo, which was abruptly abandoned following a backlash.
“They’re trying to modernize to look like their competitors, and Cracker Barrel is second to none,” Tommy Lowe told News Channel 5.
Lowe added that he heard that the company’s CEO, Julie Felice Massino, “used to work at Taco Bell. What does Taco Bell know about Cracker Barrel and traditional food? They should focus on the food and service, and leave the barrel—the logo—alone.”
Last week, the company announced its proposed simplified logo, featuring only the company name, as part of a larger plan to modernize its restaurants and attract a younger clientele.
But earlier this week, Cracker Barrel announced it would keep its original logo—depicting an elderly man in overalls sitting next to a barrel and the words “Old Country Store”—following criticism, including from President Donald Trump.
